Sports at Philip Sheffield

With the opening of the new gymnasium in 1936, it is not a surprise that the students at P.S.H.S. began to excel at sports. Basketball, track and field, softball, and badminton were all popular at P.S.H.S. during the early years. At the regional level, teams and athletes from P.S.H. had great success, as they came first three years in a row in the Fraser Valley District Track Meet championship in 1938, 1939, and 1940, and won several boys and girls basketball titles. The early-40s boys basketball teams were exceedingly strong, and they went an entire season one year without losing a game.
